SOLD Pair 1976 Nicos Zographos Saronis Leather & Oak Lounge Chairs from Hugh Stubbins LibraryListed for sale is a pair of leather and oak Nicos Zographos Saronis lounge chairs from 1976, which came directly from a Hugh Stubbins (Architect) designed Library at a notable ivy league institution. For context, additional provenance can be disclosed at time of sale. This design was introduced in 1962 as the lounge chair you see here and was soon transformed into a sofa after 1966 (we have the matching sofa available as well). The pieces were

you can note that some of the chrome plating has flaked off on the bottommost part of one leg and exposed the brass underneath (a reflection of high quality manufacturing)

building upon the 1950's fiberglass innovations

Both pieces date to 1952-1955 approximately and came from the same estate

Listed for sale is a gorgeous early George Nakashima for Knoll N19 birch straight chair

Another possibility is that these may have been Herman Miller contract pieces (produced for a large commercial project)

this piece is in nice shape with some light wear and patina

The upholstery is all leather

Listed for sale is a vintage 1950's Florence Knoll walnut and white laminate bedside table

The metal frame is solid and also showing light patina

The frame shows some light wear and patina from use

There is also a plaque on them that list Starck

This was one of Charles and Ray Eames first major commissions and this splint has become an iconic design
