Hardy Cascapedia 4/0 Salmon Fly Reel - 1930's OriginalFor sale here is a very fine and exceptionally rare original Hardy Cascapedia salmon fly reel made in the late 1930s. Also included is the very scarce original Hardy D block leather reel case made specifically for the Cascapedia. This 4 0 size reel is one of twenty six total known to have been made. The reel remains in excellent and original condition. The drag is still very strong and smooth. These reels were made "rings up" style whereby the spool

Brushed nickel up-locking reel seat (an upgrade from the standard black aluminum) over a handsomely figured wood spacer

and ferrules feature a spiral pattern in orange on top of the main wrap

as the reel appears to have been taken apart (some slight screw head marring is evident and there are a couple of almost microscopic marks on the silver anodized rims

which chronicles the author's fishing in western Ireland beginning in the 1890's
